Katie Abadie, LPC
A Louisiana native, Katie Abadie received her Master of Science in Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University. Having found her passion, Katie is eager to expand her skill set and continue to grow in her profession. The foundation of Katie's counseling framework consists of three elements: the counseling relationship, unconditional positive regard, and integrating self-compassion. She believes a client's "answers" are within them; her role is to assist them by providing a non-judgmental space that utilizes psycho-education, evidence-based resources and tools, guided introspection, collaboration, and short term and long term definitive goals. Katie's counseling perspective is existential, person-centered, and holistic, however she understands integration is key as every client is different. She has experience with adolescents, adults and older adults, complex trauma, sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBTQA+ issues, self-esteem, shame, grief, borderline personality disorder, and cultural identity issues. Her approach is sex-positive and can often incorporate a feminist perspective. Katie seeks to provide unreserved support and empathy as she and her clients take the non-linear journey towards wellness and fulfillment together.
